dBase LLC is trying to remind developers of the .dbf file format that is still around and they are updating their product line to try and get you to consider their new version 10.3 - but should you? I was a fan long ago and they have a lot to offer in the most recent release, but is it enough? I still feel the look and feel of generated forms look a little too dated. The commitment seems to be there but I just don't know at this point. Another company that still believes they can offer a lot is Alaska Software. Both companies offer support for other backend databases and that may be a good thing. However, I am not convinced - yet. Check back now and then.
